Neglected and Matted Coats
At A Dug Life Pet Spa, we believe that the welfare of all dogs is paramount. Therefore, we may shave the coat back completely on dogs with matted or neglected coats if we believe this is the most humane course of action. This is in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (Section 5).
Shaving a matted coat is a time-consuming and demanding process, and it can also put additional strain on our equipment. As a result, we may charge an additional fee for this service.
It is important to be aware that shaving a matted coat can sometimes lead to skin irritation and other conditions, and the coat may not grow back in the same manner on some breeds.
A Dug Life Pet Spa cannot be held liable for any effects that may arise from shaving a matted coat.
Not all matted coats require shaving, mild matting can sometimes be brushed out with the use of detangling sprays, products, and tools.
However, in some circumstances, severe matting may require veterinary treatment.
